What motivates us...

… is precisely this daily work with our customers, from which all the wonderful projects and unique experiences arise.

We have been working with some clients for many years, others only recently. But regardless of how long the journey together has been – from day one, we work together as equals, in a partnership that we call “buddy mode”. We work with our customers in a kind of community in which we always keep the declared goal in mind.

In innovation projects in particular, there are ups and downs, unexpected obstacles and unplanned challenges – that’s part of our job. But we face every supposed problem with confidence, so that problems quickly turn into opportunities and often lead to unexpectedly positive developments.

And these experiences make every project uniquely valuable – for us
for us and our customers.

Large-scale projects

Supporting the IMM 2023 - WAGO Minden

For our long-standing client WAGO, we were able to carry out a very special project in spring 2023 – the support of the English-language International Marketing Meeting.

The focus of the 3-day major event was the motto “Connect for Impact”. Around 180 employees from all over the world came to Minden, got to know each other better, attended various workshops and were inspired by the latest developments at WAGO headquarters.

We at verrocchio accompanied these 3 days with a creative and colorful supporting program. Guided by the motto of the event, we made the newly created network visible, encouraged people to get to know each other with our bingo, among other things, and gave small impulses around innovation and creativity.

The highlight of the event was a 3.6m-wide picture that all participants created together over the course of the evening. A snapshot that will forever remind us of this unique event and impressively shows the colorful diversity of WAGO’s marketing.

MittelstandsINKUBATOR NRW - NRW.Innovationspartner

In today’s world, sustainability should be the basis for every business decision. Of course, the change from a traditional company to a climate-positive company, ideally, is by no means achieved overnight. Small steps are needed to make this change possible.

We were able to support medium-sized companies from NRW as they embarked on this transformation. In the fall of 2023, we were commissioned by NRW.INNOVATIONSPARTNER to provide technical support for the “MittelstandsINKUBTOR NRW”.

In a 6-month program, we accompanied around 30 companies from a total of four regions in NRW on their path to sustainable transformation. The program was divided into a four-week knowledge transfer phase and a five-month practical phase. In the knowledge transfer phase, we taught important basics about sustainable transformation, while the companies looked for a suitable practical project in which they could directly apply what they had learned. After the first four weeks, all company representatives came together for a practical day, which marked both the end of the knowledge transfer and the start of the practical transfer. In the following five months, the groups met every two weeks for a joint coaching session in which we discussed the current challenges of the individual projects.

The “MittelstandsINKUBATOR NRW” project ended with a large closing event at which all participating companies and interested parties came together, the newly created network was consolidated and individual projects were presented.

MittelstandsMAKERTHON NRW 2023 & 2024 - NRW.Innovationspartner

How do we solve the major challenges facing many companies today? We bring in bright minds!

And the MittelstandsMAKERTHON was born. NRW.Innovationspartner commissioned us to provide methodological support for the 3-day format for 2 years in a row. In total, we conceptualized and moderated 6 Makerthons in different regions of NRW.

In cooperation with various regional partners, SMEs from NRW were encouraged to take on current challenges in the areas of sustainability (2023) and AI (2024) at the MittelstandsMAKERTHON and have them rethought by students from a wide range of disciplines.

For 3 days, the student teams delved deep into their topic, immersed themselves with us in the world of innovative brainstorming and allowed their concentrated knowledge to flow into potential solutions.

The highlight of the event was the teams’ final top idea pitches in front of the companies and a jury, which awarded prizes for the best ideas.

Train the Trainer - Team Alignment

Company in the construction industry, Austria

How do you turn good individuals into a great team that moves forward together?

That was the request we received from a customer in Austria. An absolutely exciting topic for us, combined with a first look at the construction industry. In a two-day workshop, we brought the internal innovation coaches together and worked on the current lack of alignment.

The key finding: the Group’s “innovation lone wolves” lack a common working basis to turn them into an effective, successful team. Therefore, the most important keyword was “synchronization”.

So we synchronized together…
… the attitude towards innovation.
… the definition of innovation.
… the understanding of the role of the internal innovation coach.
… the common institutionalization and organizational basis.
… the necessary “we” feeling in the team.
… the common orientation.
… an understanding of their own basic toolbox.

The most important thing for a team is to speak the same language. This prevents misunderstandings, everyone knows what it is all about and what is meant. A clear understanding of roles and which tools you have at your disposal also helps to avoid frictional losses and to organize yourself more quickly and easily.

Stress-Test - Innovationmanagement process

Financial services company, Germany

A major financial services provider is about to introduce its newly designed innovation process and approached us. Does this process make sense? Can it withstand the conditions in the company? Does it work as intended? Do the employees understand it?

In order to find answers to these key questions, we subjected the process to a holistic stress test to ensure that the introduction would be a lasting success and that the process would endure in real life.

What was particularly important?

Strategic fit
Clarity and synchronicity of mandates and mandate holders
Target / resource proportionality
Connectivity for the participants
Cultural resonance and wording
The one-day workshop was intensive and brought the realization that some adjustments still need to be made in order to guarantee the long-term success of the new process. A result that one would probably not wish for directly, but a valuable experience that will pay off in the long term.

Innovation Day - brainstorming for the further development of the business model

Company in the plastics industry, Germany

From today’s perspective, a business model based on the production of a large number of parts from traditional plastic is not sustainable in the long term. So how can you manage to develop your own business model in such a way that the company continues to be successful while protecting our planet at the same time?

A medium-sized company in the plastics industry approached us with this question. As an initial approach, we organized several one-day workshops in which various employees from the key departments took part.

The workshops had two central objectives:

to impart basic knowledge on the topic of innovation
to impart knowledge about how innovative idea generation works
In order to deepen what was learned, the knowledge was applied to real, previously compiled key topics. The participants came together in small groups to tackle the challenge they had been set.

The results showed that these initial Innovation Days were the right approach. A critical mass of employees had been reached and the first step towards the further development of the business model had been taken. After all, a sustainable transformation of your own business model can only succeed if as many employees as possible join in, contribute new ideas and support a fundamental rethink.

Conception of impulse workshops

IT department of a company in the electronics industry, Germany

Agile working has become something of a trend topic. Every team wants to work in an agile way and thus be efficient, successful and in tune with the times. But this can quickly become a trap.

It was precisely this issue that led to an extremely exciting project for us with the IT department of a large company in the electronics industry. It was clear in principle that collaboration in the department’s teams should be different (more agile), but the question was: how exactly can this look like so that the new way of working can develop its full potential?

The result was the joint design of 90-minute impulse workshops on specific topics relating to agile working. The short units were easy to integrate into the employees’ everyday lives, so that we were gradually able to get almost every employee from the department to take part in the impulse workshops. Over time, the short impulses led to a change in thinking within the teams, so that our customer can now report that there has been a noticeable change in the way they work.
